This bear came and sat down in front of me - a natural model.
We also saw Horned Owls, Caribou, Bald Eagles, Elk and buffalo.
Our next stop was Seward where we climbed down some rocks while the tide was out searching for clams, barnacles and seaweed. At a beach we found this pink star fish. We also watched the Sea Lions play in the water but no matter how hard I tried, I was unable to capture a picture of these amazing creatures. Hailey and Nathan are still not excited about actually being in Alaska. However they are excited about the wildlife they have seen and have prepared a bag of "research items" they take everywhere. They have binoculars, a pad and paper, a magnifying glass and a small book with a map and facts about Alaska. Their inner biologist really came out while searching the rocks. We also found out our dog Boone likes water and was thrilled to run around the rocks and play in the shallow waves. Bessie however hated the water and stayed away. The temperature has been perfect and we are enjoying the sun which everyone has told us will soon be gone for "rainy season".
My favorite explorers
Nathan our little photographer took this picture. He calls me "Mrs. the mommy" truly the most unusual nickname I have ever had. Hailey loved being our guide.

How incredibly beautiful! What beady little eyes musk oxen have! I think some of the big name sled dog teams up there support themselves by doing tours and stuff too - that could be a fun adventure!
