This tree may not look perfect but the process of finding it and bringing it home at any point could have been the subject of a Norman Rockwell painting. We had so much fun a new tradition has been started. First we bought a $10 Christmas Tree Cutting Permit from the National Forest Service and drove 45 minutes to get to the forest.
We stopped at the local fire station just outside the park to look at fire engines, visit Santa, buy homemade fudge and most importantly use the restroom. Leisel had a lot of fun talking to the firemen.
Hailey made sure we stayed safe buy asking the necessary questions: What time will the storm be blowing in? Do Bobcats hibernate? Will coyotes bother us? They have been known to attack humans.
Dressed in snowsuits, hats and gloves we trekked through the woods with our good friends who have been doing this for years leading the way.
It took teamwork - Nolan cut the tree down with a hand saw and Nathan who has been practicing all week yelled "TIMBER".
Eric did his part by pulling the tree through the forest on a sled.

We found a hill to sled down. The hill was small but even the big kids gave it try. There was a lot of laughter - especially when dad used the sled as a snowboard.
After drinking hot chocolate, eating snacks and tying the tree to the car we headed home. We had to stop twice to tie the tree.
We had so much fun finding a tree we decided C & J needed a fresh tree as well. When you get here it's ready to decorate.

I LOVE IT!!! Thank you so much for thinking of Jason and I while you were up there and for our cute cute tree. It looks like so much fun! We definitely have to go with you next year. We are so excited to see you guys and come decorate our tree! 2 days and we'll be there! :D
