We spent an evening in the town square for the lighting of the Christmas tree.  It was  cold but thankfully there was plenty of hot chocolate, some performers and a warming tent.

Santa and his reindeer came escorted by a group of men holding torches.  It was really impressive but impossible to catch with my camera.

There were lots of beautiful Huskies to pet.  They are one of Hailey's favorite animals.  She hopes to have one someday. It will never be while she is living at home.

We went on a sleigh ride.  It used to take 7 days by sleigh to go from Valdez to Fairbanks.  I am so grateful we don't have to travel by sleigh today!  Our family story would be completely different if any portion of the trip we made had to be by sleigh!

We ended the evening by lighting a candle in memory of grandpa.
