Can you see the moose?
While on our drive last week to see if we could spot moose, my husband mentioned he thought they were sometimes referred to as "the ghosts of the forest". They are hard to spot. These pictures are of a young a young bull moose who stopped to take a rest in the wooded area behind our neighbors home.
He would sometimes put his head down and be so still he looked like a log and blended in with the forest floor. He was just off a trail so our neighbor had to warn unsuspecting walkers to take another path.
He finally stood up which made him a little easier to see.
Moose on the loose.
Hiding behind our swingset.
We enjoyed watching him from our patio eating the leaves off the cottonwood saplings.
Close up.
Keeping an eye on us.
He then moved out of our yard and onto the trail beside our home. We then went out front of our house and flagged down walkers to let them know there was moose on the trail ahead and to cross the street. He was here for a few hours giving us an opportunity to really enjoy watching him.
This large pile of scat is from bear- due to the size our neighbor thinks possibly grizzly. If he makes an appearance in our yard- we will not stand on the patio and watch him!
